I really didn't want to poke holes in my closets and try. The glue seems pretty strong. I can't yet comment on how difficult it is to remove as I think it may take several years before I try. But for now it's holding up well and I'm doing better because the baby and younger kids don't seem to have access to our lazy Susan's office. When you first open the cabinet it has a thumb area that you press down on and lower the hook so you can open it. Doesn't seem as easy to close as I found, I have to slide it back to get back. The spring is strong but may wear out a bit over time.
