I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Freedom Edition and I have tried 3 different Android Auto Head Units each time reusing the console USB port in the Jeep and removing the Uconnect system. The Sony XAV-AX100 worked great. The Sony XAV-AX5000 barely worked. My current Alpine iLX-W650 probably ran above 50% but was still quite problematic. I did a lot of troubleshooting, made YouTube videos and posted them on the Jeep forums. In the end, I decided that the Jeep's USB console wiring just wasn't compatible with Android Auto. I tried various options but ended up replacing the dash cigarette lighter port with a flush mount dual USB port. I haven't had any issues with Android Auto since installing the USB port. I made a video on YouTube but the video was too big to post here. I've included a thumbnail image. You can search for "5after12" and should be able to find it. At first I tried simply running a long USB extension from the back of the head unit to the area between the seat and the console, but that also had some issues. I suspect that the length is a problem. The advantage of this current setup is the relatively short wire. The ICESPRING dual-port USB connection has proven itself extremely well. I connected one port directly to the head unit and the other to a Samsung fast USB charger and it works great. This way I can use the top port for Car Play or Android Auto and the bottom for fast charging. Since I switched to the cigarette lighter USB port, I haven't had any disconnects from Android Auto.
