I have always used silicone tunnels since tearing my ear with a pair of metal tunnels and never had a problem. I don't know if there was anything odd mixed with them when they were made, but overnight my right ear blistered and some of the skin turned black and peeled off. I went to the doctor yesterday, it turned out to be an infection due to which I had necrotic skin. Doc and I decided it was probably a small tear and I was put on antibiotics. It scared me so I slept with one of my cones in my other ear just to be safe and then reinserted the tunnel this morning. A few hours later my left ear started bubbling so now I have no doubt these tunnels were caused and I threw them away.
