Exceptional performance

There are no perfect headphones. This is what makes some of us spend money to find 'one' pair of headphones that will make you forget you have others, including the HD800. It is usually compared to the HD 800. The HD800 are great headphones and they do everything you read about them. Sometimes it can just sound perfect, and then a few more songs and you can't master the whole song because it sounds awful on the HD800. I didn't have this problem with Arya. Until I get rid of my HD800, T1 2, DT1990. You see, I'm guilty of collecting more headphones than a sane person could wish for, but I'm starting to question the logic of keeping the rest. The music to Arya floats around in my head in an unusual way. Rich in detail without listening fatigue. Yes, a lot of money, but once you can actually listen to it you can understand why. I actually enjoy the soundstage on it more than on the HD800. While it should work well in any genre of music, it certainly excels in instrumental music like new age chill, cinematic sound, etc. If you're more into contemporary pop and heavy bass music, I'd recommend something like DT1990. But this, this is the guardian. You need good strength. Don't buy unless you plan to spend even more money for a good DAC and amplifier. It's not an easy or affordable way to get into audio, but if you can, the rewards will make you forget what you spent. The build is ok, Hifiman have tried to make a solid yet simple frame and components. In many ways, this is a case of form-following-function. They are light and comfortable. I don't think I'll break it because I treat my gear with care as one should treat expensive and delicate engineering marvels. If you want to run with headphones, there's the Beats brand.
