pretty? Yes. But soft? no It's not bad, but the material is a bit rough. I hope it gets softer with more washes. Pillowcases are way too scratchy to sleep comfortably these days, but I'm also used to sleeping on 15-year-old flannel pillowcases that have become buttery soft after a decade and a half of daily use and weekly washing. This material also wrinkles a lot, but unless you pay for a high TC flannel or a $300 Egyptian cotton set, you're going to wrinkle. I don't mind because it's a home look. Also the texture of the material doesn't bother the duvet cover because it's about the same texture as our cotton duvet, maybe a bit rougher because it's brand new. When things get softer I'll edit.
