These Classic Tortoise Hair Clips are very lovely, but they did not hold my 11-year-old daughter's hair back when she tried them on. We wanted to use these clips to keep her hair out of her face, but when she tried to put these clips in, her hair and the clips wouldn't stay close to her scalp. These hair clips do not appear to be heavy or strong enough to keep her hair in place. Only the largest ones in this set stayed put long enough for me to photograph them. If you wear your hair in a bun or a ponytail and want to make your hair look pretty, I think these tortoise hair clips would look great. They are not, however, strong enough to hold back unattached hair. They could possibly be used for this purpose on very thin hair, such as that of a toddler.
