It's amazing how other reviews complain that after a while it doesn't buzz. It is not battery operated and the product description is VERY CLEAR that you have to turn the dial for 60 minutes and then turn it back for the desired time. This is a manual timer. That's how they work. However, this timer is awesome. It's so cute and the texture doesn't slip. It works great every time, even after my 2 year old dropped it multiple times in the harsh kitchen.
