I bought this monitor as an upgrade from my previous 28" 4k monitor to have enough space when developing software to display 2 column differences in 2 separate windows. The 34-inch monitor definitely made this easier, but I found that it was actually too wide, not tall enough, and left the font too pixelated to clearly distinguish characters. I ended up returning this monitor and got a Dell 32 inch 4k monitor which actually has more usable screen real estate and allows 1.25x magnification for higher resolution fonts. Pros: 1) Really enjoyable gameplay with super fast frame rates. I don't see how high refresh rate helps until you start navigating the game in first person. It also made web browser scrolling very smooth. 2) Good picture quality (not amazing, but good enough) 3) Easy to view multiple software windows at the same time Cons: 1) No built-in USB hub meant I had to buy another external USB hub (although I did save on this monitor). more than offset the added cost of the hub) 2) 34 inches at 3440x1440 means the most comfortable zoom is 1.0x. While this is good when running older applications that don't support HiDPI, it also means fonts look very grainy by today's standards. When I was developing software, I found that I couldn't distinguish certain characters that were underlined with red squiggles. I felt this was too much of a step backwards, so I finally settled on a 32" monitor with 4k resolution and high enough DPI to support 1.25x zoom 3) The stand wasn't very good and I can no longer put it on the platform I used for my old monitor (because of its width). This is a relatively minor issue, but it points to a common problem with monitors of this width that require additional real estate. 4) I agree that 34 inches is generally too wide for a software developer. It's uncomfortable to stand behind the monitor, and the width makes your neck more tense as you look further left and right. The aspect ratio is also non-standard, making it difficult to work with maximized windows and watch videos in almost all 16:9 formats. For software developers I'd really recommend a good 32" 4k instead.
