I've been saving for a decent mic for a while and saw it on sale. This is my first professional microphone and I really like it. Plain unedited recordings sound a hundred times better than the street mic I plugged into my DSLR. I've used this for a few videos over the past week and won't be going back to what came installed on the camera! Excellent: The microphone itself is fantastic. It's 25mm in size (huge compared to my camera) and can capture a wide range of frequencies. My voice sounds like my voice for the first time. It's strange to hear my real voice coming out of the computer. There was always some distortion with the travel mics I've used. There is no with this. Also, I record directly to WAV so there is no compression like you get when recording audio from a camera. Everything will be done safely. The microphone itself is of good weight. The gooseneck is also made of durable metal. It has two locking mechanisms to achieve the correct position. It stays in place really well. The padded microphone holder offers sufficient support and protection from the small unwanted noises that come through the gooseneck. The pop filter removes some of the extra mouth noise. It also helps block out some ambient noise. In the video I posted you can hear the difference between when a pop screen is used and when not. It's crazy that it could make such a big difference. Pros: I'm not sure I'll be using the small metal tripod that came with it. Although I like that, it's an option. I definitely see situations where this would be preferable, but I have my mic in a really good place. I don't think I'll change it any time soon. USB cable is about 8 feet long. This is very useful in my situation where my computer is at my desk. I haven't had any issues and there is enough length left over if I need to move it elsewhere. The fact that I can use this with an OTG adapter means I can use this with my iPad. My main goal is to get rid of the bulky desktop and make this iPad my do-it-all machine. Using this mic with my iPad is a game changer.
