So not red at all, but completely purple. This is a beautiful deep purple shade, very soft and beautiful. I'm sending it back because the tail doesn't fall long enough when I wrap it around my neck twice and I'm a petite woman. The softest thing I've touched in a long time and if it were long enough I would keep it even if it's purple because it's amazing. Regardless, I'm keeping it! I am also sending one to my father and father-in-law!
