Getting hot, REALLY hot.
I've gotten it to work on my clients with very short hair - this little straightener makes it really perfect for getting the hairline and roots close and just behind the ears. Wouldn't buy. USE THERMAL PROTECTION/HEAT PROTECTION WITH THIS IRON - it gets too hot like plasma. Strange. Be careful when holding this iron while using it - you can and will burn your hand trying to touch the little rubber grips which I suppose should make it safe to grab when it is is hot. their full size irons, but I'm not entirely satisfied with this particular item.
