I purchased the 1/2" tape for a variety of uses. So far I have only used it on my shoes for walking when it is dark out. I prepped the surface by cleaning it with running alcohol and letting it dry. I cut the pieces to fit and clipped the corners to adhere better (a tip the VELCRO rep gave me years ago for self-adhesive VELCRO). Getting the backing off was pretty straightforward, although it did require patience at times. I had the most success curving the tape away from the direction of the roll to get a fingernail under the backing, which would then come off straight away. I am very pleased with the reflectivity and adhesion.
