The Montech Gamma 750W power supply should appeal to many. It has great features at a low price. The only reason for doubt is that Montech is relatively unknown when it comes to PC hardware, at least in this country. Assembly: Like many brands, Montech does not make its own power supplies. This device is made by CWT who are well known in the power supply business and make devices for many brands including Corsair and Enermax. This should inspire consumer confidence; Even if you don't know Montech, you can be sure of the quality of the device because it comes from a reputable source. From the outside, the all-black body looks attractive and suits most builds. The yellow markings look nice but can easily be removed if desired. Ribbon cables are certainly difficult to manage, but they look great and are all black. Internally, CWT has used Japanese capacitors, which are generally of the highest quality, and the unit is 80+ Gold certified. You'll also find a single 12V rail, which is totally preferable to multi-rail designs. The CWT included a relatively quiet fan; Although it doesn't turn off completely, you'll find it hard to ever hear it. In my opinion it's almost enough too quiet to give it such a label. This device is high-quality and cleanly finished, meets all the requirements: 80+ gold, Japanese capacitors, a 12V rail, quiet fan. Cons: This is a very good power supply. The only real downside is that it's not modular. The 750W unit has two 12V EPS connectors, while most computers only need an 8-pin connector. There are two PCIe cables, each with a pair of 6+2 connectors for even the most power-hungry graphics cards. Two threaded SATA connectors and a Molex core. I mean, that's a lot of cables, especially when most of them aren't being used! While I can't fault Montech, I never expected modular cables at this price point from a 750w box. But I would strongly recommend placing it in a case with a power supply case. Otherwise it will be very difficult for you to hide all those extra cables. And when you first come into contact with ribbon cables, they look good but are difficult to handle. I would prefer Montech to go with black cables with nylon humps. They look 90% as good as ribbon cables, but are much easier to work with. If they could somehow squeeze semi-modular cables into their price range, that would be even better. Conclusion: Although Montech may be a relatively unknown company, with CWT you have chosen a quality manufacturer. I can also say that Montech is trying to establish itself with a strong social media presence and I have observed a very active Twitter feed. Although I didn't need to use their customer support, I contacted their marketing team and they responded quickly. This is definitely a good sign that they have people who are responsive to the community. If they keep making decent products at a great price, they have the potential to garner some attention in the PC space.
