Exactly a year ago I bought a similar column, about which I wrote a detailed review. In short: the Arena column from the American brand Riva. Before that, I never thought that one such relatively cheap small speaker could produce such a clear and detailed sound with amazingly elastic bass - just fantastic! I rate the sound of Riva Arena at 5+, and I will compare the sound from Yamaha with it. Much to our regret, serious jambs with hardware and software surfaced at Riva. The sound was still amazing, but Google Cast fell off after 1-2-3 songs. Periodically reconfigured Google Home, which eventually stopped seeing the column. Bluetooth was cut off from the very beginning. I took it to the service, they could not fix it and returned the money. I read reviews about speakers with Google Cast and not only, where a lot of people complained about similar communication problems. In general, this turned out to be the weakest point in almost all such multi-rooms. I wanted to take Sonos, but only the oldest (expensive) models have bluetooth there. As a result, I chose this column, where the stability of communication was not so much criticized. And it turned out to be true. The column plays stably, the connection does not fall off, and the application can only sometimes fail critically. I rate Yamaha's sound at 4. The sound is normal, but without revelations and goodies. There is an equalizer on which you can correct the sound a little. There is also an option to tweak the bass. I admit that in a stereo pair the speakers sound better, but hardly more detailed. I use Dezer. Unlike the native application, here are all the recommendations, flow, etc. divided into sections rather than presented on one page. The player itself looks like a native, only, unfortunately, without the ability to rewind.

Pros
  • Normally working application. Communication stability via wifi and bluetooth. Touch buttons. Buttons for presets. Internet radio with a bunch of radio stations directly through Yamaha's proprietary application. There are no built-in voice assistants. No Google Cast.
Cons
  • Live streaming can only be played through the Yamaha app, but only from mobile devices; You can't use a computer, except via bluetooth. There is not enough mute button on the control panel and a separate button for turning the bluetooth on / off. There is no Reset button, nor the ability to reset the settings in other obvious ways in case the device freezes. No touchpad backlight already in the small twilight, not a damn thing is visible.
