Updated 17 August 2018 below June 2016 I ordered this lantern to replace the eyeball trim in front of the fireplace and it did the job perfectly. Good: 3000k light is fantastic. Smooth but crisp. Beam angle is perfect for accents. From about 2 feet away it illuminated the robe and the wall above, that's all. Excellent directional accent. The angle also helped keep the light on the wall and not on the floor. The Bad: Turning your head in the ring was a chore. I couldn't quite tell if it was supposed to rotate 360 degrees or if it had breakpoints. He just didn't want to shoot too well. So I took it out and rotated the whole trim around the jar's lantern and it behaved the same way. And suddenly he was exactly where I needed him. I don't know what I did differently back then. Overall I give 4+ stars. The tricky setup might just have been a one-off fad. I have ordered two other rubbers of this brand in quantity of 30-40 pieces twice without any problems, so I quickly establish my doubts. I would not hesitate to use this pad again for this type of installation. - -August 2018. I still haven't had a chance to order these headlights again. I ordered five pieces for a sloping roof in the kitchen. I put the first one in and just like the one I had two years ago, it was difficult to turn it so it was pointing straight down. Well for some reason I decided to rotate the light and then try to rotate it with just two fingers. This time it worked like a champ. So I tried this method on the remaining four and it worked exactly the same. If you take all five fingers and try to rotate the eyeball, for some reason it won't. But if you use a thumb and index finger, it rotates with no problem. So it's a tricky setup, like my previous guess. But it's worth it. The light output is phenomenal and dims down to around 5%. The rotation angle is 45 degrees or more. The photos I have attached are from my last installation.
