The strap is holding up well - we have a suitcase that really needs to be scrapped as it tends to open up when traveling by air - and at least I wasn't greeted in my panties by everyone around the carousel at baggage claim, so did it work. The only negative (and it's my fault for not measuring) is that the suitcase we used it on had to be larger than the one shown in the photo because the strap wasn't long enough to fit our suitcase to fit from top to bottom, so we had to buckle up. It's around the short side of the case (we bought 2 hoping to go top to bottom and side to side if that makes sense). Somehow we used both sides and it served its purpose.
