The vine has an open end which looks like wood in the product image where the hardwood vine is wrapped around the vine with the plugs visible at the end. They do not come with the product itself so the wire is exposed in the vine. I bought the caps and then dipped them in the plastic so my chameleon wouldn't get hurt by the exposed wire. The price is good compared to better quality items but you know you get what you pay for. I still gave 4 stars because I didn't have high expectations for the product. As everyone else says the suction cups don't work but I don't need them.
