I had three Yi cameras but couldn't find anything to attach them to the outside. I looked at a lot of different cases, but they all had some kind of plastic or glass on the front that was interfering with the Yi's IR/camera. This is a rubber case with a mounting plate with no glass/plastic in front of the camera so your IR function will work great! Other reviews have warned that the rubber part of the case is extremely difficult to place the camera on. I didn't have this problem, I stuck one side of the camera into the "rim" of the body and then just went around the perimeter of the camera. I think it was pretty easy! After that, setup is very easy. The mounting plate gives you full freedom of movement, so you can point the camera where you want and it stays there. It offers some protection from the elements with a rubber body and small lens hood over the camera, but is open to the elements at the front. I would be concerned about water/dirt getting in there, so I set up my cameras on the back (covered) porch and our front porch so they are both weatherproof. Since installing it a few months ago, the cameras and these mounts have worked flawlessly. I have full 360 degree coverage of my home with four cameras (about $120) and four wall mounts. I'm very happy with their work, but I would be careful to place them in a location where they don't have a roof or similar protection.
