Review on Apple 32 Inch Pro Display Retina 60 with USB Hub, Ultrawide Screen, Adaptive Sync, and Height Adjustment by Grant Feuerstein

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful but flawed

What a great display, but lacks that finishing touch in terms of error correction and quality. I like the color, the glass finish and the transparency. However, there are some issues with the display. I couldn't get the darker color bar to go away at the top of the display unless I was running DCI 4K/60. All other resolutions and refresh rates (including native 6K) had a darker bar at the top (this isn't a backlight issue) . ). The monitor bleeds pretty badly, has only one input, has no controls, and has an absurdly expensive stand or VESA mount. A bit of polish (fixing the streaking issue) and I'd keep it. What a great price for full P3 and HDR. I bought it for the color gamut and clarity, but I just can't have a display that shows the wrong brightness for the first 10 or so lines. It's a little annoying that I had to buy a $1.5 thousand converter due to the limited number of input formats. I bought two of these and both had the exact same performance issues with brightness near the top edge. It should also be noted that there is this huge color shift for off-axis viewing. The display gets very blue when you have two next to each other and you are in front of the main display. Changing the position of the display helped a lot, but it has nothing to do with the LG Ultrafine 5K's off-axis display capabilities (at a fraction of the cost). I hope that the recently released Apple 5K 27-inch display will solve the problems listed. higher.

Pros
  • It's expensive but very good
Cons
  • This monitor does not have a stand, so it is best to get a suitable stand before purchasing.
