Review on πŸ”Œ BND 65W Portable Mini Travel Charger for Microsoft Surface Devices - Compact & Efficient Charging Solution with 5.9ft Cable & USB Port by Ken Wilson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The replacement cable for the laptop is good, but the connector is rather flimsy.

Update (June 18, 2020): Changed rating to two stars and added image of broken 110v plug. Do it with two broken plugs. That's what happens when you trip over a cable a few times. So instead of pulling (or shorting) the cable away from the magnetic connector on the surface, it rips the bottom out of the charger. But I can understand why. The way I plugged it in pulls the top out of the way if I trip over the cord. I could wrap the cord around a chair leg, or maybe an extension cord would help, but that plug-in connection is still the weak link on this charger. Here's the irony. I chose this charger so that if (not if) I trip over the cord and damage it, I can easily replace the cord. Well the cables work except for the light when plugged in but instead the plug breaks. I'll try to solder the broken wire and somehow glue the plastic ground back. If anyone has repair suggestions, please let us know. For now my plan is to use plastic glue and tape. I would weld it with a heat gun but the plastic on the parts feels different. Many Thanks. Update (November 10, 2019): Added an image of the electrical information of the blocks. Update (13 August 2019): The seller sent me a new charger. I tried the new cable with the old charger and it works great. Upgrading my rating to 5 stars for excellent customer service. First update: almost a month old and the charge indicator is no longer lit. It is not possible to contact the seller. Rating to 3 stars. I'm nervous that his life will be short. Original: I especially like the detachable and swappable laptop cable as this is now my 4th power adapter for my Surface Pro. It is this rope that always fails in the end. So I'm hoping next time I'll just have to replace that cable. While Microsoft has created a great product for the Surface Pro, the charger's design is a major drawback. The only downside is that the adapter needs to be plugged directly into an outlet. I knew this beforehand, of course, so I bought a short ungrounded power strip to use. I just received this so I will try to update this if I have any bad experience with this product.
