One evening I went to get brown sugar to make a lemon buttermilk cake but was quite upset when the sugar stuck together and became a hard block. I scraped the container and tried to get 1 cup of sugar out. In the meantime, I figure there must be a better way to keep sugar from sticking like that. Later that night, I came across an ad for SurLaTable's brown sugar saver. Well I read about it. I was a bit skeptical that that terra cotta would actually keep the sugar from setting, but damn I thought it was worth $4. Why not? So I went to Revain and ordered 2. It arrived the next day (thanks Revain Prime!) and I soaked it in a bowl of water for 20 minutes, patted it dry, then placed it in a sugar container. I completely forgot. Came back later and checked in. IMPRESSIVE! The sugar was moistened and even to the bottom of the container I was able to scoop out the sugar! IT WORKS! Oh I love bears too. :) I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is disappointed with hardened sugar. This is expected to last for 3 months or so. And the packaging says there are other uses for it. Keeps cookies and cakes moist, dried fruit fresh, etc.
