I have used Permatex and Loctite for 45 years, Permatex to form gaskets and Loctite to fasten nuts and bolts. significantly less than Loctite and tried it out. It also works well outdoors where there is a lot of vibration. If necessary, the blue screw lock can be removed by heating. Red Loctite will be with you forever. Permatex is slightly more viscous (thicker) than Loctite and slightly less spreadable when applied horizontally or upside down. Each product has roughly the same open time and is generally equally messy to use.
