I don't think it's possible to return the chair (perhaps on purpose), as the screws for the armrests and backrest don't fit on one edge and you'd have to make new holes in the fabric. The back is stiff and not very high, so it doesn't do a very good job of supporting the child's head. There is a reference point (the husband's chair from the same price range) that shows how uncomfortable sitting is. Even if it were on sale, I wouldn't suggest buying it. I had to take the recommendations at face value and not hope that I would become "normal" overnight.
