This is a great hammer drill! I did quite a bit of research and even tried two other brands before settling on this one. It has enough power and necessary features to make it easy to use. Aside from being a trusted brand with quality products, Makita has two things I really like about this hammer drill. The first is the trigger lock. I used a different brand of impact drill that didn't have a trigger lock to pry out the tiles in a small 40 square foot bathroom. After I finished, my trigger fingers (yes, I had to try to keep going with multiple fingers) hurt for days. I vowed never to use a hammer without a trigger lock again. Second, drill/hammer disc. In the same tile demo project, another hammer drill had a dial on the left side of the body, and that's where I wanted to put my hand to hold the drill bit when I wasn't using the detachable side handle. The dial was gradually pushed out of the locked position, after which the bit was free to rotate, which meant I had to stop, move the bit, rotate the dial back to the locked position, and do some more work before it happened again. This model has a dial on the bottom of the case, so it doesn't get in the way of both right-handed and left-handed users. Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone.
