I purchased this extension to be able to turn off unused individual items in an RV entertainment cabinet that was using electricity while dry camping. I needed a 12 inch cable so I took it apart to shorten and soldered it to fit my needs. All six screw holes on the back had reusable rubber plugs. The screw heads are triangular - almost tamper proof :) Every connection was well soldered. The switches operate very smoothly with a positive click and glow neon orange when on (the red LED does not flicker). Overvoltage protection is provided by a varistor (TVR 14561) soldered between the neutral conductor and the circuit breaker. I was able to shorten the cord and slide the collar to a new position for assembly. The 14-gauge power cord was talc-filled to reduce friction. Very good extension, soldered, solid and well built.
