Review on ๐Ÿ”ณ Black Fox Racing Speedframe Pro Helmet - Size M by Justin Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

For me it's all about the fit.

I wanted to wait to review this helmet until I could spend some time with it. A little background knowledge about me: I have been riding MTBs for over 5 years, 4 of them as intermediate to expert. My first helmet was the FOX Flux, it was a budget helmet and it did its job well, I really liked the fit. When the Bell Super 2R came out I wanted a lighter colored helmet with the front protection option (removable). Immediately I noticed that Bell sat like he was sitting on my head while FOX felt like he was wrapping around my head. I missed the FOX feeling. I endured and rode the Bell for a couple of years and recently decided to give it up due to numerous minor accidents but mainly due to its age. I really wanted to return to FOX this time and found that I really liked the look of the Speedframe. I measured my head and found I was between medium and large. I chose the medium one and it fits perfectly, unfortunately due to the medium size I can't easily put the headband on. In the cooler months I suspect this will prevent me from wearing anything to keep my head warm. I should have chosen Big. However, I have no regrets. Now for the good. I really like this helmet! It feels like my head is in the helmet, which is how FOX helmets have always felt. It is significantly lighter than my Bell. The strap system is much more adjustable and the magnetic closure system is just brilliant, once you use it you will never want to go back. I will add that on a hot day this helmet feels a bit warmer and it's certainly not due to the lack of vents, it's most likely due to the color (I chose black, the old helmet was white). I also chose the PRO model as I wanted better MIPS protection.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Some issues
