vibration is louder than other heavy sleeper alarms we've used.
My husband used to use a traditional alarm and couldn't hear the tone very well. It woke me up every morning and not him. Since then, he's used just the vibration setting and it's so much better. It only wakes him up and not me too. Never want to go back to the blaring beeping sound again. This one also has a very bright blue light that illuminates the time. Soft enough light to sleep though
