Can't focus to save your life

I got this camera as an upgrade for the internal FaceTime camera in my mid 2015 Macbook Pro. Where I have my computer settings, the backlight suffers significantly; window behind me. The MacBook's built-in camera struggles to capture my face, even though I have two LED lights on my desk to compensate. This Nexigo camera definitely handles the light situation better; The exposure of my face is much better and doesn't look like I'm in a dungeon. However, you only get a rough idea of my face because the autofocus on this camera can't figure out how to focus on my face. While some people may argue that my blurred face is definitely better than a sharp image, it's still ridiculous that this camera can't focus on the closest (probably 18-24 inch) most prominent object in the frame. me that the camera suffers from a very shallow depth of field or faces are otherwise post-processed. The letters on my shirt seem very sharp, but my face is blurry. I really don't get it, but this camera is a definite disappointment. The only troubleshooting guide I could find related to autofocus issues was to wave my hand in front of the camera. If I do this with my hand close enough to the camera (maybe 12") and then hold my hand in the frame, the camera is able to focus sharply on my hand. However, after about 1 second, a Gaussian blur is applied to the entire image, and my hand goes into the blur I do not recommend this camera.
