Review on Osprey Seral 7 Lumbar Bike Hydration Pack in Dustmoss Green: An Essential Cycling Companion by Joe Jordan

Hydration tube hangs dangerously low over the rear wheel

I really wanted to like this product. As an avid mountain biker, I use the CamelBak Mule to carry my tools and water. I was interested in getting the backpack off my back and this product seemed like a great solution. There are two issues with the design: 1) If you use a dropper seatpost, you will find that the hydration tube hangs dangerously low on the rear wheel and sometimes rubs or snags on the rear tire 2) Even with minimal loads (phone, wallet, keys , multi-tool, small pump) the backpack hangs low and takes off the trousers/shorts. When you fill up the hydration pack, your steering wheel friends will be wide-eyed. Osprey is a good brand and makes good bags, but they just missed this one. It might be a good backpack for hiking but definitely not for mountain biking.

Pros
  • The dedicated hydration compartment accommodates the included 1.5L lumbar reservoir and packs for stable transport, and the tube magnet attaches to the bite valve for easy access while riding.
Cons
  • I will write later
