Let me start by saying that this is my very first camcorder. I have nothing to compare. However, I have a digital camera with which I can compare the quality of the images. In short, this camcorder is great, although there are a few caveats. The compactness is amazing. I didn't get a case for it because I had a case for another camera and I always put the camera away and took it out. I thought that this time I'll just use a box for packaging. It works well and I saved some money. Autofocus is good, although I do feel like I have to change focus a bit to get the camera to focus properly when I first turn it on or when I get too close to subjects. .I'm still learning to focus manually. The automatic camera settings work well. The fact that you can fully rotate the LCD screen and snap a selfie is great, as is being able to lift the entire camcorder and capture a bird's-eye view. Viewing with your eyes and looking at the LCD screen is easy! So there must be some downsides: while the scalability is AMAZING, the leverage for it isn't all that great. I've read other reviews where people have complained that it makes a clicking noise. I tend to agree. I would advise Samsung to redesign this part and make it a mute button with a +/- function. Another downside is that the pause button is not easily accessible. You need to press with the finger of your left hand. The pause button should be next to the record button. However, it is acceptable for life. There's a neat feature that lets you add a backlight while recording if the field of view is too bright. However, I always have to check if the screen is on or off. I filmed a wedding where the bride wore a white dress and sometimes looked like a ghost because she looked like a ghost in the field of view of the white pillar. So nice feature, but you need to keep an eye on this button to make sure it's what you want while recording, as you can't adjust the lighting post-capture unless you're doing an edit, with which I have no experience. The automatic opening and closing of the lens is nice. The camcorder has manual controls and I keep forgetting to close it when I'm done recording. For the manual open/close button, I'm always confused about how to open and close. Now, to open the lens, you need to flip the switch down, not up. I think I connect it to the light switch. Up to turn on the light and down to turn off the light or open and close the lens. Maybe just me. The photo capture is not as crisp/clear with the video quality. Again, maybe I'm doing something wrong. My other camera is much better. I bought a 32GB flash drive and it works wonders. The battery supplied with the camcorder is the BP150R with a capacity of 1030 mAh. Everything is fine, but the recording time is less than 2 hours. I bought another BP150R 1200mah battery. That took longer. My next battery will probably be bigger. So, I repeat once again that I love this camcorder and I recommend it to everyone!
