Despite what others have said, I was able to adjust the volume. Press and hold the "Surround Sound" button for 3 seconds. Then press and hold the other speaker's volume button again to exit. Nevertheless, they are unattractive. I understand you shouldn't be listening to the satellite speakers all the time, but I turned up the volume and watched as I rescued Private Ryan without hearing anything. You can hear them playing as you approach. They're on either side of my bed so I can't get any closer. I updated the firmware before I received it. Not worth the extra money, maybe worth $50. Get the SVS PB1000 instead and your stereo will spin. The subwoofer that comes with the 48-Bar is decent, but the other subwoofer makes a big difference.
