My husband's hobby was photography but he was passionate and he was very good at it. He used a very large printer with some very expensive cartridges. After his recent death, our son suggested that his printer would be much more expensive to use and advised me to consider a replacement. I did just that and it was a great decision. The large printer is now in the hands of a budding photographer who is very happy that I have one and I am very happy that I have extra space on my desk - and can print faster while spending time at my computer and write projects. At almost 84, I'm more comfortable with less complex techniques. Instead of a huge printer that uses very expensive ink cartridges and an oversized copier that also found a new home with our artist granddaughter, I now have extra desk space and a multifunctional printer/scanner/fax machine. It's perfect! I recommend getting a longer life ink cartridge, which is still a bit pricey but comparatively cheaper.
