These things are crazy. For example, they will drive you crazy if you try to break them up. Of course, I didn't read the reviews carefully before buying. I bought a few other M Design storage boxes and they were great so I had full confidence they would be the same. It took us a full 75 minutes to separate them using various combinations of hot water, ice water, spatulas on the sides, and brute force pulled by my (muscled) husband. It was a job for at least two people. Definitely don't buy these if you live alone. They have to be given credit for withstanding all knocks and bumps. We were afraid we would scratch or break them but they look perfect. I think we'll really enjoy using them now that we've separated them. But it might be worth considering other storage containers if you don't have 75 minutes and a muscular partner.
