Review on Enhance Your Connectivity with the Vantec πŸ”Œ 2+1 FireWire 800/400 PCIe Combo Host Card (UGT-FW210) by John Boyce

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked great with Win 10.

Worked perfectly on my computer. First, I plugged a 4-pin Molex power cable into the card (the other end has a male SATA power connector); Then I plugged the card into the pcie2.0 x1 slot on my old ASUS Z87-Pro motherboard. I connected the SATA power connector to an empty SATA power connector that was also connected to a newer SSD. I am using Win 10 Pro OS. I then connected a Belkin 6-pin to 4-pin FireWire cable to the computer. I plugged the 6-pin end of the cable into the FireWire 400 (6-pin) connector and taped the other 4-pin end of the cable to protect the FireWire end. I don't want to mess with that damn cable in the back of my computer every time I need to use it. I turned on the computer and went to the Control Panel to select Device Manager and WA LA! to check; The host controller 1394 appeared. I shot a short video on my old Panasonic PV-GS400 and transferred it to the computer using the old program Roxio Creator 10 CE. My computer was off when I connected the camcorder. After turning on the computer, I turned on the camcorder and uploaded the video. I stopped collecting videos in the program; Then I turned off the camcorder and unplugged it. I leave the cable connected to my computer at all times; I protect the 4 pin end. No doubt you can find free video capture software. I will look at some free video programs and try to post them.
