Perfect for importing my 15 year old MiniDV JVC onto my Windows 10

Just what I need to burn 10 year old MiniDV video memory onto my Windows 10 Home system. Installed in 10 minutes and when I plugged in my 15 year old JVC MiniDV camcorder it was recognized immediately. I didn't have to download any drivers. I use Pinnacle 20 Ultimate for video editing and was able to control (play, stop, play, toggle) the camcorder from my video editor. I am very happy with this purchase. Note. Besides the PCI-E slot, you also need to connect it to your internal power supply…

Works as expected. And here is the molex connector.

Suitable for Firewire audio interface In excellent condition I bought this for a fifth of its retail price. Have heard mixed opinions on forums and elsewhere about the power connector and whether or not the interface requires it. I decided to plug it in anyway before trying the card without it first and regret not having done so. The wires in the connector are ketchup and mustard for those who care about looks, more importantly, they feel free in the plastic part itself. Trying to connect it…

Worked great with Win 10.

Worked perfectly on my computer. First, I plugged a 4-pin Molex power cable into the card (the other end has a male SATA power connector); Then I plugged the card into the pcie2.0 x1 slot on my old ASUS Z87-Pro motherboard. I connected the SATA power connector to an empty SATA power connector that was also connected to a newer SSD. I am using Win 10 Pro OS. I then connected a Belkin 6-pin to 4-pin FireWire cable to the computer. I plugged the 6-pin end of the cable into the FireWire 400 (6-pin)

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities

It just works! in FireWire port mappings

I'm using this on a new Windows 10 64-bit system (Anniversary Edition update). I needed to be compatible with some of my older Firewire devices. It works great with my Canon HV30 Mini DV/HDV camera and a Firewire 400 hard drive. The 3-port version I use has an internal 6-pin connector (same type as the external ones) that I use attached to the front panel via the FrontX connector. Please note that different versions have different chips. This 3-port version uses the VIA chipset. Again, no…

The interface works and is easy to install, no drivers required

My old desktop had a firewire connection, I was building a new desktop and there was no firewire option on the motherboard assuming there was this format is set,? although I had digital videocassettes that I wanted to convert to DVD or Blu-Ray format. I needed a FireWire interface to connect my DV camera and record video. I bought this Vantec interface, it wasn't the cheapest but it had good reviews and I chose the brand I know. Installation was easy, no driver disks, plug and play. My system…

Didn't work when transferring video

The card was physically installed without any problems and was recognized by Windows 10 without additional drivers. But I couldn't get it to transfer data from a Panasonic DV camcorder. Years ago I successfully dubbed tapes from this camcorder to a standalone DVD recorder via a FireWire cable, so I expected it to work the same way. In fact, I was able to control the camcorder's play/stop functions, etc. But every time I tried to start video recording, either no signal was sent or the computer…

Power cord Not required when using 1 FireWire cable

It was installed on Windows 10 Home Edition 64-bit. No need for drivers. I'm using a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master motherboard for anyone interested. Open the PC case and remove a back plate protecting the PCIe slot (note that the two small pins on this Vantec card must fit into two identical female slots on the motherboard. The Firewire Vantec card lets just plug it in. The computer booted into Windows 10. Despite the instructions I don't have, I don't need a power cord and I don't need to…

Great for adding a Firewire interface to your PC

Hello, my name is Qualcomtom and I am a professional engineer specializing in testing and writing objective reports. I bought this FireWire card for home use to digitize my old DVI tapes. I used a standard Windows 10 desktop and Pinnacle Studio for Dazzle version 1.0.1.207 to record the video. This card worked perfectly. Installation was easy, I didn't have to download any drivers, and after restarting my computer, my Pinnacle software automatically recognized the video coming from my…

Vantec makes good stuff I think I had a loser

I have used Vantec products from external enclosures to USB 2.0 and 3.0 to IDE/SATA peripherals and I usually choose them for peripherals. I bought this particular card for 2x Firewire 800 ports (in case I need them in the future) and 1x Firewire 400 port (which I now need for a DV cam to upload old videos to my Linux computer with dvgrab). Chip - Texas Instrument chip for 1394/Firewire. The box was in good condition, undamaged, the card was packaged in an anti-static bag, and a molex to sata…
