No, this book is not for everyone. It's not for beginners who need to learn the basics. This is not for advanced spinners who need very specific instruction. knitting pattern? Very passable. Sounds like a terrible review, bye. But I just love this book! This is it: an inspirational book IF you like fibers, play with fibers, and have an open mind (and maybe a sense of humor). There is thread in this book that no one would ever use for anything other than dust collectors! Yarn from old cassettes, scraps of paper - no, I wouldn't copy them and have absolutely no use for them - but for someone else to try these ideas, just fascinates me. It inspires me to develop my imagination. For many years I have mainly been involved with traditional knitting and spinning. In the past I would have laughed at this kind of "synthetic yarn". They are mostly useless to create usable finished objects. But as an absolute fiber fanatic, I have seen the sheer joy, creativity and joy that comes with creating artistic yarns. Beautiful photographs and juicy design of the book convey all these things. I have owned this book since it came out and it has been at the top of my books and magazines stack ever since. I can not get enough of this! So if you're a fiber freak like me, I think you would feel the same way. If you're a pure traditionalist and don't see the point of yarn for yarn's sake, stay away. I will say that the instructions are a bit vague, but I really don't think the strength of this book lies in being a teaching tool. His strength lies in the inspiration and joyful way he encourages people to expand their ideas of what yarn can be. Thanks to this book, I decided to try something I wouldn't have done before, and that alone is worth the admission. If you are a fiber fanatic who is not traditional or open to new possibilities, I recommend this book with unabashed enthusiasm! that the strength of this book is that it is a teaching tool.
