I bought this machine to replace my 10 year old Keurig licensed coffee master who started making boring coffee. After using it for a week I have to say this is a great little machine. I'm convinced that the negative reviews I've read where people have described needing to add more water because it doesn't brew and then get warm are just people who didn't understand how the machine works. The sound you first hear is just a pump taking in water to heat it. After about a minute of silence, the machine starts to boil and makes noise again. If you can't wait 60 seconds of silence while the water heats up and feel the need to add more water, then yes, you screw up and get crappy coffee. But if you pour in water and a capsule, press the button and just wait until it's all over, you'll end up with a very hot and rich coffee. It takes less time than my previous machine and makes the coffee much, much hotter. Again, this is a great car.
