All port cutouts are very precise. The plastic corners that hold the iPad mini are very well rounded and free of sharp corners. Other manufacturers have had occasions in the past where I had to manually file sharp edges. I use a third party pen and this case protects it well. When I don't have a handle attached, the valve also adjusts with body magnets to eliminate any gap! The valve has the added flexibility of being able to be attached with magnets to both the inside and outside of the lid.
