. We had an old (12 year old) latex foam mattress that was quite firm. It was time for a new mattress as I was getting chronic lower back pain while I slept - enough to keep me up at night. After weeks of searching the internet and reading what must have resulted in thousands of reviews, we decided to try a memory foam topper and wanted something with cooling properties and from a trusted brand. My wife loved it as soon as she tried it and her sleep improved immediately, but it took me a couple of weeks to really appreciate the new topper. I'm glad I did it in the long run, the lower back pain that used to wake me up at night is gone. My wife sleeps on her back, I sleep on her stomach, so finding a mattress or mattress pad that fits two very different sleeping positions is difficult to say the least. In terms of cooling properties, we live in Houston and while we haven't used it over the summer, I can say that sleeping on this mattress is slightly cooler than our latex foam mattress. Very happy with the purchase and obviously given the improved sleeping comfort for both of us I highly recommend trying this to rejuvenate an old mattress.
