I bought this Uniden Bearcat Scanner to monitor the Kansas City Southern Railroad and the Canadian National Railroads in Alexandria, Baton Rouge and New Orleans and the Baton Rouge area. NOAA weather radio frequency. The Uniden Bearcat scanner works best with 2300mAh NI-MH rechargeable batteries. The scanner can also be powered by alkaline batteries, but this type does not last long. After installing two NI-MH 2300 mAh batteries, I still had no charge. This scanner has an integrated circuit that charges the batteries when the scanner is connected to your computer. The scanner features are simple and very easy to use and understand.
