Amazing light AA. The first was about 6 years ago. It was well made and still works well. I like small lights and this was a bit big for my liking. It also used a switch on the back, but I prefer to toggle it on and off so it doesn't bump and drain. This one is small. Still throws a big light and ramps up from dim to bright. The OR button on the back is really great. I also like the glow in the dark rubber cap, the dim light. It looks like it would be the perfect lantern for a tent. I'm looking forward to trying it out on a motorbike in the summer. Very impressed so far. Updated for Tool AA 2.0. --------------------------------- So I like these lights. After buying Tool AA, I bought Tool AAA and Worm AAA. Everything is fine. I also bought some EBL Li-ion batteries and a charger to see the high performance. It's great too. One thing I noticed is that all of these single cell bulbs had the same max run time of around 28 hours regardless of AAA, AA (all types). Different batteries result in different light output, but almost the same operating time. That makes the Tool AAA pretty awesome, aside from the lack of the glowing spark gap cap that came with the Tool AA. AA Tool 2.0. In a way, it's the other way around: Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries offer a longer runtime of 60 hours. They've also added another level of brightness (four total) that offers even more luminosity than the original AA tool. Identical shape and performance except they added memory (and very high light levels). I still appreciate the lack of flashing modes! The higher output is significantly brighter than the older Tool AA. For my use, I almost always want to start at a lower brightness, so memory isn't really a feature for me. I like the idea of getting more execution time at lower levels. For my use, they could move the fluorescent tubes even lower. My old 4Sevens Moonlight Half Light is good enough to check the time, walk down the path, look inside your tent, or take a good look at something. I would appreciate extremely low and high endurance lithium-ion battery life, with low-end runtimes approaching a week. Very similar to all Lumintop product offerings! Version with "blue tail light". It looks like it behaves like the latest 'AA tool', the one with memory. When working with alkaline AAs, the blue back cover will NOT light up. When using "EBL INR 14500 800mAh 3.7V Li-Ion Batteryโ, the back cover glows faintly blue. Not light blue, but enough to find light in the dark. Seems like it would come in handy in a tent at night or when you know you need to find it in the dark. Sure, this drains the battery a bit, but if that's an issue, just unscrew both ends slightly until it goes dark. It's actually kind of cute because I usually do it so I don't get prodded. Now it is very easy to determine if it is unscrewed far enough. I'm still very happy with all the Lumintop bulbs I have. Each was purchased at full price and I have no relationship with this company other than being a satisfied customer of their little lanterns.
