BENEFITS - Easy to inspect, clean and fill water tank - Features such as auxiliary fan, mineral filter, auto mode with humidistat - Good overall build quality and design - Price MINUS - Loud both for the fan at high speed as well as flushing the water in the tank - Auto mode doesn't work very well as it constantly alternates between high and low fan speeds as if the sensitivity of the humidistat is too sensitive and maybe should be taken into account +/- 5% humidity rather than trying so hard to maintain an exact level. CONCLUSION In the end I will most likely return this although I really wanted it to work as I really liked the concept of a fan to circulate the mist, an easy to clean tank, a mineral filter and automatic humidification control. Auto mode doesn't work very well as it toggles the fan power between high and low too often to sleep. Flushing with water from the tank is also very loud and wakes me up. I don't know if it could be the design and the height of the tank which makes the bubbles sound louder than other tanks. The combination of these two factors makes the humidifier cumbersome and noisy. The solution is to set it low when I go to bed, but I feel like that defeats the purpose of using the auto feature when you can't use it to keep humidity levels up throughout the night. I've also had a few instances where I had the fan on low and it would still cycle on high a few times. I had to switch between modes back to low and also cycle the device to stop it. In general, the automatic mode and the hygrostat require fine tuning.
