After years of waiting for the technology to mature and then reading many reviews online, I settled on this panel. A few years ago I preferred Samsung panels because of their consistently high quality. However, at the time of writing this article, Samsung has very few 144Hz models, so I had to look for an alternative. The Internet praises this panel for good colors for TN technology, a short response time and low input lag. When compared to my 2014 Samsung S24C300HL, the colors were pretty much the same apart from some contrast differences. This was surprising given that most high-refresh-rate panels have "poor colors," according to the network. I kept it because the color matched my old Samsung. Testing at 144Hz was interesting as the mouse moved smoothly both on the desktop and in games. Note that 144Hz doesn't mean the LCD technology is perfect, you can still see a very short mouse trail, but since LCDs have smooth pixels there will always be some lag between the signal and the pixel response. Maybe in the future OLED panels will have no moving parts and we'll be able to get a really instant response. There are a few subjects I would like to discuss. First, a high-pitched coil tone comes out of the monitor. The built-in speakers in particular produce sound. Not all people can hear it, but those who know the sound I'm talking about can. There is noise despite OSD volume settings. There is probably interference in the panel PCB. Second, at 144Hz I've noticed scan lines where every other horizontal row of pixels gets a little lighter, then darker, then lighter, and so on. This happens when the included DisplayPort cable is used. or HDMI. The problem seemed to go away over time and is less evident at 120Hz and absent at 60Hz. This monitor may require a break-in period. My research shows that this can happen with 144Hz displays that are pushed to the limit and factory overclocked. Some say it happens on an individual basis and that it's a lottery. Others say it can be caused by a bad DisplayPort cable and that the DisplayPort cables that come with monitors are often of poor quality. In an attempt to fix this, I researched and purchased a highly acclaimed VESA compatible cable, the Accell B142C-007B-2 UltraAV DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Locking Cable - 6.6 feet (2 meters), as did many others on the web are not VESA compliant and don't conform to the correct signaling standards (Also, DisplayPort is almost like a throwback to the old VGA in the sense that the cable can't be too long and has to be of high quality since it carries huge amounts of digital data at high speed transmits speed. ). This or the previously mentioned break-in period appears to have reduced the problem by 90%. I can still see very few scan lines if I look really closely, but that's not noticeable at a normal viewing distance. Finally, this panel has a terrible vertical viewing angle when the panel is in the default landscape orientation. Light colors on webpages appear washed out and inverted in the lower third of the panel. The only way around this is to look with your head directly at dead center height or tilt the panel. I haven't seen a panel with such viewing angle problems in years. I don't know if it was necessary to wait another year for the technology to mature or to wait for a technology beyond what is currently on the market like OLED. . At the moment I have a 144hz monitor which is good but not perfect due to the above issues. My standards are very high and while I would give this panel a 3.5 if I could, it gets four stars in the context of the technology currently available. Now I need some free time from work to play some games.
