Review on Glorious Model Glossy Black by Niranjan Reynolds

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful Ergonomic Mouse

Receive 1 pc. matte white. The product arrived in the typical Glorious packaging; a plain grey-orange box with a short product description and various specifications on the back. Inside the box, the mouse is secured by a two-piece plastic insert that also accommodates the cable without unnecessary kinking or twisting. In addition to the mouse, the box also includes several product inserts, an insert with a Glorious CEO statement, two additional PTFE feet to increase the total sliding surface, and a pair of Glorious stickers. As always, I appreciate Glorious's simple yet elegant product packaging and emphasis on presentation. The mouse itself consists of a matte white body with the iconic honeycomb design that has become very popular among gaming mice in recent years. The mouse has standard left and right buttons, a notched scroll wheel, a dpi switch under the scroll wheel, and two thumb-accessible buttons on the left. The case is a traditional ergonomic shape designed exclusively for right-handers. The mouse is connected to a very light 6.5 foot braided USB cable. The bottom of the mouse has four small PTFE feet on each corner. On the left side of the mouse is the Glorious Odin logo painted in grey. Glorious is also colored gray on the front right side of the mouse. There are light strips on both sides of the mouse and on both sides of the scroll wheel - with logos and LED lighting, the aesthetics are definitely not neglected. The mouse is advertised as extremely light, but still feels solid in the hand. I have encountered a very minor flexing issue with my device and it may just be a defect in this device on the left side of the mouse. I can make a clicking sound by pressing on it with my thumb. This problem is not serious, but noticeable and worth mentioning. I'm giving one star in this review due to the lack of quality control. The left and right clicks are 20M rated Omron switches, and they sound clear and consistent, with no hesitation with each press. The side buttons are just as responsive and a refreshing change from the boring, vague side buttons found on other gaming mice. The scroll wheel is free to scroll and doesn't have as much drag as the venerable titanium roller found on Roccat mice, but it's well constructed and doesn't have left or right play. The scroll wheel click is firm but easy to use without causing fatigue. Another incredibly small thing to note is that the DPI indicator is on the bottom of the mouse, meaning you have to flip the mouse over to see the currently active DPI setting. This isn't a huge issue for me since I can find out the current DPI by simply hovering the cursor, but it can be a little annoying for some users. Great that it has proven to be resistant to tangling or wear so far. It slips easily through my cable manager and of course is perfect for the Glorious Mouse bungee. The PTFE feet glide smoothly on my Cordura mouse pad without any fuss; I've decided to add extra feet for more riding surface - this is largely a matter of personal preference and some users may find it too slippery, but it's nice to have that option. Model D software is a refreshing change. bloated custom software from Corsair, Logitech, Roccat and Razer. This is a very simple application where you can change DPI levels, mouse lighting scheme, tear off distance and debounce time. Best of all, if you are against the software, you can keep your settings and uninstall the software completely. Everything is saved onboard the mouse itself when you're done. Overall I think this mouse is great. It was extremely comfortable for several hours of intensive use. Build quality is excellent for the most part, and the price is competitive in a world where gaming mice are now regularly $100+. While it might seem a little pretentious to some, it's a pleasure to use and isn't encumbered with pointless software or unnecessary add-ons. It might be a bit lacking in buttons for some MMO and MOBA players, but I find it to be a great companion for games of different genres. I hope Glorious can improve quality control a bit on future shipments; The flex issue was quite frustrating and very minor compared to what has otherwise become my all time favorite gaming mouse. Given this issue, I still recommend everyone to try this mouse - I don't think you will be disappointed.
