Review on πŸ“· Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 14.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera: Amazing Features, Stunning Image Quality by Adam Walsh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Three years of experience and still going strong.

In the introduction to this review, I'm not sure why my experience was so good compared to other reviews. When I bought it, it came with a detachable rubber boot with wrist strap, so maybe that was the differentiating factor. Bought it in November 2013 for $157.37 and reviewed it in June 2016 (still using it at the time of this review). I originally just wanted to "test" the product and if I like it, return it and buy it brand new (new was $400 at the time), but all I can say is wow. It's so durable I've never had to send it back. The exterior is metal and there are screws on the side, so the build quality is excellent. Before purchasing this product, I tried a few other waterproof cameras (Nikon Coolpix AW100, Fujifilm XP60) and they failed after just a few hits. I needed something that would withstand the impact of snowboarding and avoid water damage when swimming, kayaking, etc. I dry off a lot when snowboarding and this camera has endured all the impacts with no issues. I was on the water with him recently and was thrown into the water after my snorkel capsized. I happily photographed the fallen pipe as I swam toward it. I've also put this in my checked baggage for a few international flights and it's fine. This chamber is SUPER sealed. I took photos at the Holi festival in 2014 - in case you don't know what Holi is - basically people are throwing colored powder at each other and photographers should be extremely careful when capturing this event as the particles are so small that the equipment it may be damaged. slightly damaged. This camera survived with no damage to the image quality or internal hardware. I also shoot regularly with a DSLR and to be honest the image quality on this camera is the same as any other compact camera. It's good for photos you post to Facebook or print 3x5s, but not for blowing them up. Even if I bought it for $400 instead of $157.37, the durability and reliability of this camera would make it worth it. I've often thought about buying newer iterations of the DMC-TS range (their "reliable" cameras) as this camera is pretty "old" but I just don't need it. If I did it would only be for better picture quality.
