Packaging is from a non-Revain source and was sold through Revain. It was an amazing deal so I ordered with some trepidation. I was surprised and pleased that they appeared safe and sound. I've been back a few times to see if this seller has any more items they'd like to offload, so far to no avail. I chose this brand (Lenox) because I found them through a website that lists only American made products. The Lenox website even says "American by Design". I selected my pattern and ordered it and when it got to my house I was very, very disappointed to see that they were really only "American by design". They are made in China. At the moment I don't want to return them so I will not be ordering any more matching items from this company other than room for 4 people. Leaf rolling is so common these days that I can easily purchase authentic American crafts from other vendors to create a complete and beautiful everyday dining table setting. I lived, burned and learned from it. They get super clean in the dishwasher. I was so concerned about them breaking if they touched each other while washing that I was initially very careful to keep them away from other dishes. I don't do that anymore. They are alright. No chips, no scratches, I've eaten them several times. The cup also does not discolour with tea or coffee tannins. Each ring they receive is rubbed with fingertips when washing hands. As for the headline, I didn't think about it when I first ordered it, but the dinner plate is actually too big to fit in my cupboard and close the door all the way. close without touching the frame. While I could find another place to store this panel, I decided to attach two strips of foam board where the panel meets the back of the cabinet and where the door meets the panel. This, combined with carefully closing the door, protected the plate from damage while still letting it live with the rest of my dishes. The closet door doesn't fully close with a click and may open on its own if you close the adjacent door too quickly, but it's so normal now that there's nothing to just slam it shut again. Overall I am satisfied with this set. It's beautiful and durable. I will buy enough of these sets to feed four people during a standard meal, but for the rest of the serving items and glasses I will find an American company to support me. I believe in supporting American industry and the workforce as long as that industry produces goods that are wanted, needed, economical, and durable.
