Great collar for active dogs!

This is great for my Wirehaired Pointer mix. He can go off leash or leash but if he spots a bird or rabbit to hunt or a child playing ten feet away I don't have to worry about chasing after him. The range is impressive - 350 meters! The remote control has a dedicated button to sound an audible alarm (alert), a button to deliver a short shock, and a third button to deliver a 9-second sustained shock. There is also a dial to increase and decrease the intensity of the hit. I usually leave it at 2 and increase it to 3 and 4 as needed, but that's pretty rare. I started using the collar as soon as it completed the 24 hour initial charge and used it 4-5 times a day for 1.5 months and just yesterday I had to charge it again (10-12 hours total - i.e. overnight). We only put him on when he goes outside - it's not good to leave those collars on as they can cause irritation if the pins are constantly rubbing against your neck. The beep is much quieter than the previous collar so I had to get used to the fact that I don't hear it but he does. Can't wait to use it when we take it to the lake - it's waterproof! The included collar is very long - in the end we cut it to the desired length. We had no issues at all with Sam going to the lake - roaming, swimming etc. The collar stays in place and still works so he can wear it when he's outside and we don't have to worry about that it stays dry or peels off. / wear it when he goes in the water. We've had some comments on this from other dog owners who wanted their dog to be "just as well behaved and off-leash". Except in the country where there is things to do/see and play with other dogs, we almost never collar him. He knows his limits at home and comes with this excellent training tool when called!
