I really like this mini AC fridge, also known as a swamp cooler. I liked the way it looked and this one seemed cheaper than that model on Revain and could hold a lot of water. I was skeptical that something like this would cool me in over 100 degrees without air conditioning. I just moved to the desert and am trying to find ways to stay cool without spending $250 on electricity every month. My husband stole this from me while he was working upstairs in one of the bedrooms which heats up quickly. Not sure if this unit will save us money on electricity, but it has kept us cool over the weekend, down the stairs and watching TV in our bedroom without air conditioning at night. Or at least it helps with the dryness of the air. I'm used to the little noise it makes, I like knowing it's on. I love the fact that I can charge the battery while using it. I like that the instructions are written on the side of the device because, honestly, who has most likely never read the booklet that came with it. Came in handy when I was cleaning my car about an hour ago and couldn't figure out where I put their manual. My husband and I have been using it for almost 2.5 weeks now and it has started to smell funny like old wet socks. So I disassembled it to clean it. It is a bit difficult to clean the part where the water in the fan is to be used. I'm tired of photographing what I've seen. I inserted the screwdriver I used to open it and wiggled it with a paper towel, cutting off part of my finger in the process. Because it's difficult to clean, I felt it lost a star. Since there are many different models for this type of device, here are my tips. Clothing must be wet. Use setting number three to make the water last much longer. It felt like it took a good 6 hours. I put water in it before bed and there was still plenty of water in it when I woke up. Number one used 700 millimeters of water for almost an hour, that may be due to how dry my apartment is. c The cable may fall out. If your spin button doesn't work, add water or make sure it's fully charged. Mine didn't work the first time and my husband was surprised when I showed him that it could spin. Don't use essential oils or your device might smell bad, I'm not sure if that's why it smelled like wet socks, but cleaning seems to have done the trick so far. (I tried vinegar and it didn't help at all). I think there are some of those portable air conditioners that can handle it, unfortunately mine doesn't seem to be able to handle it, or it could be the quality of the oils I've been using. Don't think that this will cool the room, it's to keep the private area cool, not the farthest corners of the room you're in that you're not using. This was done without the small fins blocking it. I found it interesting.
