Review on ๐Ÿ“ท eufy Security Solo IndoorCam C24 2-Cam Kit: High-Resolution 2K Security Indoor Cameras with Wi-Fi, AI-Powered Monitoring, Voice Assistant Compatibility, Night Vision, Two-Way Audio by Duke Ballard

An error in the camera's MAC address makes installation on a secure network difficult, but not impossible.

Great service, great cameras. As such, this review should help people trying to set up their network on a secure Wi-Fi network (such as a university) that requires a MAC address to be registered with a system administrator to allow access. We have 2 Eufy cameras at home that work. ideal for our home wifi which is a standard dhcp network. I then bought 4 more of these to use in the university chemistry lab (to monitor student safety in the lab while also adhering to COVID social distancing protocols). Because Institutional Wi-Fi is a secure, password-protected network, the MAC addresses of all devices connecting to the network must be registered by our network security team or they will block devices from accessing the Internet. So the problem is that the camera reports a different MAC address in the eufySecurity software than what is printed on the base of the camera (these are "Eufy Indoor Cam 2k" cameras released in October-November 2020 were bought). At first I thought it was just my fault but in fact the MAC address printed on all 4 cameras is 1 or 2 characters different. For example, the MAC address printed on a camera might be 8C:85:80:4C:16:47, but when I access that camera in the eufySecurity app (Camera Settings >> About device), the program tells me that it is 8C: 85. :80:4F:16:45. This seems to be a permanent bug as I bought 2 of these about 3 weeks ago and the other 2 just arrived recently (all via Revain) and they all don't match the last 1 or 2 characters. Thus, the MAC address listed in the Eufy software ("About Deviceโ€) is the correct one that your WiFi network sees. When I tried to register the cameras with our network system administrator using the MAC address printed on the bottom of the camera, they were blocked. I then registered the cameras with the MAC address given in the program and they worked. You must first set up the cameras on an open network or somewhere else so that you can go deep enough into the setup to be able to read the camera's MAC address via the eufySecurity app. Then give this address to the network system administrator. After I gave our network administrators the correct MAC addresses, the cameras worked fine. I spoke to eufy support about this and they were very helpful (and suggestive) but didn't know the source of the MAC address mismatch - assumed it was a factory printer error. In any case, the cameras are now working properly.
