Review on Dura Faucet DF-SA150-ORB RV Shower Faucet Valve Diverter (Oil Rubbed Bronze) by Aaron Wood

A simple and elegant upgrade for a shower on wheels

This was a simple replacement for a Truck Camper (Lance) dual handle shower control. This Dura faucet has a slightly smaller footprint than the original but easily fits into place. No drilling or remodeling of the shower enclosure required. In fact, this faucet matches the original standard fittings, so I didn't have to change the plumbing fittings or the back wall screw caps. I didn't even open the supplied hardware bag. I also installed the Oxygenics shower head which works great with this single lever mixer. In operation, this design with a handle is very sensitive to the position of the handle, probably because the hot water temperature from the RV water heater is quite high. So a small change in the mix makes a big difference. However, it's still easier than trying to balance the temperature with two separate knobs. The built-in "trigger" when using the shower head's flow shut-off button results in cold water during dripping and when you first "turn" the flow back on, but this is to prevent burn accidents. As a big boy I ordered one built in a no-leak shut-off valve (100% flow shut-off) which should eliminate that 'cold drip' safety feature. I chose the white version because my shower is white plastic and it fits very well. A brushed nickel version would also look great but cost a bit more. Since I don't show my shower on public tours, the extra effort wasn't worth it. I have attached 4 photos, 2 showing what originally came with the camper and 2 showing this new equipment. By the way, the transaction was perfect and FAST. This seller sent the faucet faster than I was ready! With this faucet, showering in a small van is easier and faster. For me there are no more public showers on the campsite! Update 11/27/14: If you plan to install a shower control shutoff valve on the bottom of the hose (on the faucet) rather than on the shower head itself, mount that shutoff valve BEFORE installing that faucet. As I noticed last night, there isn't enough space between the shower wall and the water drain to screw on the shut-off valve. For this I have to dismantle the installation of the crane.
